Like A Natural Woman - 4 - Arms to Abs to Floor
Connecting the upper body and pelvic floor
The Chanukia/Candelabra Lesson for Pelvic Floor Awareness
The human body has evolved to move on the ready. The pelvic floor is at the ready to guide the body in the direction the eyes, head and arms suggest. This lesson is about noticing these connections, particularly with the arms. It’s a favorite and familiar lesson, a variation of the “Candelabra.”
In this variation, we seek same-side and diagonal connections from the arms and shoulders to the pelvic floor. The connections develop quietly, but powerfully, as arms turn the torso, and the pelvic floor responds and supports.
Begin supine with knees bent with elbows bent and on the floor at shoulder height, fingertips magnetized toward the ceiling: the candles in the candelabra. The lower arms rock on the elbows to drop the palms down towards the toes, and then (back of hands) drop to floor behind, inner arm close to the ear if possible. Feel it in the scapulae, the upper back and chest. Find the coordination in the back. Then add pelvic floor and see if you, too, find greater support.
Great low-impact, balanced toning for the pelvic floor.
