Lift Your Tips
Based on “Fiddling Arms” ATM by Moshe Feldenkrais
Find more space in your hips, knees and ankles by finding more lift in the head, neck and chest.
This variation on the “Fiddling Arms” lesson continues the theme of sensing the connections between the shoulder blades. The bottom tip, middle edge and top “epaulette” are reference points for sensing how the shoulder blades glide towards and away from the center line through the horizontal range of motion: arms opening at shoulder height.
This is side lying lesson - both sides now - with a now familiar format. Knees up to protect the low back, arms extended forward at shoulder height, palms together. On one side then the other, the top arm slides over the bottom arm to feel the connection between the constrained bottom, unmoving, shoulder blade and the top side.
Tune into the different focal points: the top, middle and bottom shoulder blade edges, the ribs, the sternum, the spine. There’s a whole lot going on, so take it slow.
This step-by-step exploration creates a pathway to recreating a lifted , in the car, at your desk, walking.
