Gestures of Love - 7 - "Grief and Acceptance"

Sometimes Love Means Loss

“If all I have to do this year is love, I’m good” - Christine

Embody love as we wait to be reunited with our beloveds. This Awareness Through Movement® series progresses from Self Hugs to Sealed with a Kiss. Be ready for that wonderful moment when we can show our love up close and joyously.

Your First Break-up, Getting Laid Off, Moving From Friends, Losing a Loved One to Death, Covid-19, Anguish for the Planet, Climate, Social Justice and Tragedies - Grief Is the Flip Side of Love

Grief is physical. When my Dad died, I felt as if I had lost a pint of blood. There was no choice but to surrender to it.

The experts say"Feel it. Go Into It. Expect it to be unexpected."

One year in, with hope on the horizon, now is a good time to acknowledge what we have been through. So much, so little - maybe we are ready to open up to feel, to hope, to heal.

In this lesson, we move into the gestures of grief - the heaviness, the slumped shoulders, the shallow breath - to feel viscerally. And, maybe, find the way back to center.

How you might feel after this lesson: Re-centered emotionally and kinesthetically; Spine, from sacrum to axis, long and loose; Deeper breath; Softer all over; Balanced front-to-back and side-to-side; Quiet.

A variation of the Prayer hand lesson.
