Pelvic Floor Awareness for Balance and Strength - Bonus Lesson 2 - From Floor to Fingertips

This final lesson in our series comes from my teacher Alan Questel. It’s a variation of Dr. Feldenkrais’ “Candelabra” lesson where outstretched arms roll and twist, connecting fingertip to fingertip through the shoulder blades and spine.

In this variation, the focus is on connecting the pelvic floor to the fingertips. Maybe when you are typing on the computer and realize a little pelvic support is in order. I’m working on finally integrating this work into my bass playing. The whole idea is to apply the work - so start thinking about activities where better posture might allow your hands to be freer.

This lesson begins in standing, migrates to the floor and ends in a semi kneeling position. You might want a stool or chair nearby if standing on your knees is uncomfortable. It’s a bit more active than most lessons. But with all the pelvic strength you’ve developed, you should be ready.
