The Lusty Month of May

Ribbons 3 - The Ribbons Pull Your Chest, Hips and Hands

Variations on the “Ribbons and Gentle Fingers” as taught by Alan Questel, GCFT®

Pin on a rainbow of ribbons and let the maypole dance you

Continue the Maypole dance. Pin on a rainbow of ribbons - on your heart, upper back, belly button, tailbone and wrists - and let the maypole lift and twist you. Let yourself be drawn, completely relaxed, into new positions of inner geometry. The floor is your mirror as you lie on your back and front, revealing connections that come into focus through contrast.

This lesson adds the hands, and another imperfect metaphor: the marionette. If the Maypole isn’t for you, maybe letting the perfect puppeteer dance you gracefully will spark your sense of fun and ease.

Align the optimal breath pattern to match the movement of pole - with ease. Sense twinges of tension with the Voice-o-meter - Tra La, It’s May, The Lusty Month of May! And the healing sounds. (Download the “Healing Sounds” chart here.)

Set Up for supine and prone:

  • Lying on a mat with support as needed for head and knees for supine

  • In the prone position, some people like support under chest/hips; you might like a yoga block or few books to rest your forehead on

  • Alternatively - Seated on a flat-bottom, armless chair with knees and hips level

How you might feel after this lesson: Festive; Open; Connected; Joyful; Fluid in torso, able to turn on a dime; Able to use your breath and relaxation to dance and dance and dance. Ready for it to be spring already!
