Gestures of Love - 6 - "Pause ... And Then..."

The Fine Art of Stopping, Waiting, Then Doing

“If all I have to do this year is love, I’m good” - Christine

Embody love as we wait to be reunited with our beloveds. This Awareness Through Movement® series progresses from Self Hugs to Sealed with a Kiss. Be ready for that wonderful moment when we can show our love up close and joyously.

Pause, Wait, Feel, Notice, Notice More, Then...

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens. Carl Jung

Mindfulness isn’t difficult, we just need to remember to do it. Sharon Salzberg

Sometimes you need to press pause to let everything sink in. Sebastian Vettel

The pause is as important as the note. Truman Fisher

After a very active lesson last week, this week is minimalist and slow. The focus is on pausing. The moments between the movements, the silence between the notes.

A small lift of the foot, then wait. A small lift of the arm and then wait. What is revealed in the waits is key here. Can something you rarely notice let go? How can taking your sweet time to initiate a move reduce your overall effort and lead to grace? Lie down to find out.

This is a side-lying lesson with rests on your back. You might want a little support for your head - if you lie on your side and your chin is level with the hollow of your neck, that's about right. Some people might also like some cushioning under the hips or between the knees.

This is a trance-y lesson, so give yourself a little transition time. It's a shorter lesson so you will have all the time you need to go deep, with rests being the core of the lesson.

I leave it to you to figure out the link to "Gestures of Love."  Most of us can use a little practice pausing in certain situations, no?

How you might feel after this lesson: Deeply relaxed; Newly Aware of hidden tension; Newly Aware of unnecessary connections; Newly able to move simply and easily; Experience the pleasure of pauses; Experience the importance of pauses; Remember how to pause; All the other good stuff that comes from a deeply relaxing lesson.
