Feldenkrais for Dogs - Mary Debono Leads the Pack
Mary Debono, GCFP®, has adapted the Feldenkrais Method® for dogs and horses. “Debono Moves” is Mary’s program for dogs, described in her book “Grow Young with Your Dog”.
Note: I have studied the program but, not having a dog to practice on, I wouldn’t go out an teach it. If you want to practice this work with your dog, let’s talk. I would love to work more with Mary’s techniques and share the work.
Mary pumps out a tremendous amount of work, most recently adding podcasting to her output. I enjoy Mary’s warm voice and calm, reassuring tone - just for the charm of it. I was particularly moved by her recent Dog Podcast, episode 18, “Untrainable" Dog or Unwilling Human? in which she addresses training issues in relation to a now-famous dog once called Cricket.
The Feldenkrais Method is an approach of optimism. In our minds, even a tiny improvement is a 100% improvement. We don’t judge a body, but respect the creativity it takes to survive day to day. And we believe that anyone, even an ‘untrainable’ dog, can learn to be more coordinated, more comfortable, even happier.

Mary has produced over 70 horse-related episodes. I have some catching up to do.
