WRENegades - Post Covid revival begins with an Awareness Through Movement session

WREN was founded in 1994, powered by rural women committed to the mission of supporting better lives and livelihoods through education, economic development and community engagement in the North Country. Through the years, WREN’s work has impacted thousands of people across New Hampshire’s North Country.

The WRENegades are WREN's lively group of seniors who meet to walk, cross country ski and stay curious. The group is reviving after the Covid lull. And to kick off their reunion, members took in an Awareness Through Movement session. Topic: Pelvic Floor Tune Up.

Jacki, Julia B. Webb and Kay, the original WRENegade

Jacki led the women through a tour of the pelvic floor systems, starting with sitting tall and breathing through the ‘ring muscles,’ the low back and belly, the inner legs and glutes. Cara Cara and Navel oranges served as lightweight teaching accessories and snacks.

You know you are with your people when every attendee is deeply engaged, looking into herself, and relating the lesson to the group’s core activity: walking. A few ended the lesson tranced-out, while a few others found themselves energized. Everyone gets what she needs from Awareness Through Movement.

Angie, from Above the Notch Coffee Shop, Main Street, Bethlehem, donated a rich, freshly roasted Mexican blend coffee and a lovely, warming hibiscus tea. Julia B. Webb, WREN’s Executive Director, opened attendees a raffle for a free one-year membership.

Big up to Barb Schuchman, WRENegades organizer, for the invitation to meet the group. And to Julia for making the space warm and welcoming.
