Grab the Glutes

This week the lesson is about cheeks - the ones you sit on! The gluteus muscles are the biggest in the body and have the strength to power you through turns.

This week, practice squeezing your 'cheeks' to isolate their power, then connect to the feet for deep, accurate turns.

At the end of the session, Jakob and Natasha were grinning: Jakob had just been advising Natasha to use her 'cheeks' to turn the snowboard. Mary tuned into how pressing with the outside edge of the foot/ski helped shift weight into the turn and keep the turning ski from catching an edge. TIm was already thinking about hiking and how the lesson related to the complex movement we call walking.
